Sky Sports journalist shares Leeds late signings update from outside Elland Road as deadline looms

Leeds United’s winter transfer window looks set to end in an all-too familiar way.

Heading into the final hour of the transfer window, Leeds have only added Facundo Buonanotte to their first-team squad.

The Brighton winger arrived on loan until the end of the campaign, having had his stay at Chelsea cut short due to a lack of gametime.

The Whites have been working on some late deals ahead of the 7pm deadline, with a new update shared from Elland Road in regard to the likelihood of them happening.

Sky Sports reporter can’t resist Leeds United joke as update shared

Leeds’ pursuit of Jorgen Strand Larsen has been well-documented, and even on deadline day, it looked like it could still happen after Jean-Philippe Mateta’s move to AC Milan fell through.

However, the Norwegian’s transfer to Selhurst Park is still expected to go through, despite Mateta now seemingly staying put.

And as a result, it’s expected that Leeds United’s transfer window is now completed.

That is according to Sky Sports reporter Sanny Rudravajhala, who said: “Don’t to bed just yet!

“Sorry I couldn’t resist… Leeds fans, you can go to sleep now.”

Leeds had been linked with a late move for Edvin Austbo after news of a £11million bid being rejected, though a link is what that one looks like it will remain as.

What comes next for Leeds United and the 49ers?

Leeds were left short in the summer window, especially in the attacking areas, and yet the same thing has happened in the winter.

With Lukas Nmecha injured and Joel Piroe not fancied by Daniel Farke, there is a boatload of pressure on Dominic Calvert-Lewin to score the goals to fire the Whites to safety.

As things stand, Leeds sit six points clear of West Ham United, who occupy the third and final relegation spot, but have shown some signs of improvement in the last few weeks.

If Farke can keep his side above that line, then very few will hold the 49ers accountable, but if that fails, then questions will be asked.

There have been some bargain transfers happening this window, and in areas that Leeds have needed to strengthen, and yet Farke is now going to be forced to make the most of the options he has available.
