Sky Sports: In-demand striker set to choose new club this week after snubbing Leeds
Former Reading striker Danny Loader is weighing up two offers from Porto and Sporting Lisbon, according to Sky Sports.
Loader is a free agent after his contract with Championship side Reading expired.
Sky now claim that he will decide between these two clubs this week despite interest from Leeds.
This comes after The Mail had claimed that Victor Orta had “personally targetted” the striker amid a £20k-a-week offer from Porto.
He’s a striker in demand. Wolves tried to sign him last summer with a £7m deadline day bid. That was pulled by owner Dai Yongge at the last minute and we bet he regrets that now after Loader has left for free.
Gelhardt the future for Leeds
It looks like Leeds are signing Joe Gelhardt from Wigan – Phil Hay has said it should be done on Monday with all the pieces for his deal in place.
Loader is another really promising young striker but with Gelhardt on board, what Leeds need now is a proven goal-scorer to go alongside Patrick Bamford.
That’s not Loader, who has scored freely in Premier League Two but only has one goal in the Championship, from 21 appearances in the 18/19 season.
Loader took a backward step with Reading last season, starting just once in the Championship and making seven appearances total without scoring a goal.
However, a lot is expected still of the youngster who won the Under-17s World Cup alongside stars like Jadon Sancho and Phil Foden.
He’ll have to find his star abroad now, though, and Leeds can turn their attention to the first-team striker signing fans are so desperate to land.
