Sky Sports details Ben White update after Leeds loan expires
Ben White is “considering his future” at Brighton after his season-long loan spell at Leeds United came to an end, according to Sky Sports.
The 22-year-old defender posted a heartfelt message to Leeds supporters on Tuesday as he bade farewell to Elland Road following a brilliant promotion-winning season in the Championship.
White said that he “will never forget the way you took me in and treated me as one of your own from day one”.
White’s future at Brighton now seems to be up in the air, based on this update by Sky Sports.
And that is not really a surprise given the fact that the south coast club has sent him out on loan in the last two seasons and a route into their starting line-up could be blocked by the likes of Lewis Dunk, Shane Duffy, Aaron Webster and Dan Burn.
It is also not a surprise amid a report by The Athletic which says that Premier League powerhouses Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are all interested in signing him.
Based on how well the £40million-rated defender performed at Elland Road this season, that is not a shock.
As for Leeds, their stance on White seems to be the same with a recent report by The Sun claiming the Yorkshire giants are “trying desperately” to re-sign him on a permanent basis for £20million.
It is going to be tough for Leeds to sign him and fans do understand that.
We just don’t want to see him sat on the bench anywhere next season and if he’s going to be sat on the bench somewhere, he’s better off doing it at a Champions League club rather than Brighton.
In other Leeds United news, Leeds have advised overseas players to return home as they face quarantine.
