Sky journalist: Get ready to sign this player in FPL – he’s agreed personal terms with Leeds
Sky Sports Italy journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul has agreed personal terms on a five-year contract with Leeds United.
Speaking via the latest episode of the Here We Go podcast, host Francesco Porzio told Romano that he selected De Paul, 26, in his Serie A fantasy team.
But Romano responded by saying that he expects De Paul to head to Elland Road and claims that the Argentina international should be available in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) soon.
“You have to try Fantasy Premier League because you can sign De Paul in my opinion because De Paul is talking to Leeds – he’s ready to join Leeds,” said Romano, who also writes for the Guardian.
“He also tweeted some days ago to say ‘yes’ to Leeds but then deleted the tweet immediately because the transfer market is not for social media.
“The contract is ready. We can say that personal terms are agreed between De Paul and Leeds. It’s a five-year contract. The player wants to join – he’s ready.
“The real problem, at the moment, is that there is no agreement between Udinese and Leeds. They want €40million (£36.3m) so it is much more complicated because Leeds are offering €25million (£22.7m).”
We still have some time before the transfer window slams shut on October 5 so there is no need for Leeds, their fans or De Paul to panic just yet.
The Argentinean midfielder clearly has his heart set on a move to Elland Road so that he can play for Marcelo Bielsa and strut his stuff in the Premier League.
Udinese’s valuation of their player is fair – if that’s what they want for him then we cannot argue with that.
But there’s going to come a point where player power might get involved or Udinese realise there’s no point keeping a player around who’s heart is no longer set on staying at the club.
De Paul – whether consciously or subconsciously – might not give his all for Udinese this season after being denied what could be a dream move to England.
Udinese’s leadership should know that and they should also know they will get a good deal from Leeds, who have already offered a lot of money for the Serie A ace.
As for getting him in your Fantasy Premier League team, De Paul showed last season that he knows how to get among the goals and assists so he could be a very fine addition if the price is right.
In other Leeds United news, Bielsa’s set to make a big change to his line-up against Fulham.
