'Sign him up' - Many Leeds fans blown away by 'Quality' Bundesliga player display amid links
Leeds United have been continuously linked with Freiburg defender Robin Koch since Victor Orta revealed that he had scoped out the Germany international in January.
As quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds’ director of football claimed that Koch, 23, “could be available” if the Whites won promotion from the Championship.
There have been a number of reports that have since linked Koch with a move to Elland Road ahead of next season, as long as Leeds win promotion as it seems the defender is way too good to be playing in England’s second-tier.
On Saturday, as the Bundesliga returned after what seemed like an eternity with no football to watch on our televisions, Leeds fans had the chance to watch Koch play for Freiburg as they met RB Leipzig behind closed doors.
Freiburg impressively earned a point away at Leipzig while Koch played as a defensive midfielder, a role which he sometimes stars in despite being a natural centre-back.
Koch thought he scored a winner at the death, only for VAR to rule out his goal.
According to WhoScored, Koch was one of the more impressive Freiburg players, winning more aerial duels than any other player on the pitch .
He also won two interceptions and was not dribbled past once but many will probably point out that he only completed 56 per cent of his passes, which is very low for a midfielder.
Still, that didn’t stop Leeds fans from being impressed by the two-time Germany international, who many are hoping will head to Elland Road in the near future.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
He’s a quality footballer

I was impressed with him Gary, he's naturally a ball playing centre half but seems to be filling in as a holding mid. Leipzig were on top for the majority but that allowed us to see how he reads the game and I thought he kept things tidy when Freiburg did have the ball.
