Sheffield United stance on Liam Cooper transfer emerges amid Leeds United exit update
Liam Cooper is attracting interest from Sheffield United following the expiry of his Leeds United contract, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.
The outlet reported on its website on Friday (12 July) that the Scottish international has perked the interest of the Whites’ Yorkshire and rivals having yet to pen new terms with Daniel Farke’s side.
Blackburn Rovers are also understood to be holding talks with the 32-year-old as John Eustace looks to bolster his defence, with the centre-back’s wages expected to be the decided factor in where he ultimately ends up.
Will Liam Cooper exit Leeds United amid Sheffield United transfer speculation?
It has seemed inevitable for a while now that Cooper would not be extending his stay with Leeds United ahead of next season having been little more than a bit part player under Farke in the Championship last term.
With Joe Rodon making his stay at Elland Road permanent, Pascal Struijk closing in on a return from injury and Ethan Ampadu impressing at centre-back last year, it seems unlikely the 32-year-old would feature regularly next season.
At this moment in time, Ewood Park seems to be the most likely destination for the Scottish international this summer. However, he could still yet follow former teammate Jamie Shackleton and head to Bramall Lane instead.

Wherever Cooper ends up, he will likely move on with Leeds’ best wishes as he has been a loyal servant to the Whites for almost a decade now and played a major role in their journey back to the Premier League.
There is still a slim and ever-decreasing chance he could put pen to paper on a new contract at Elland Road, but it would appear that he is more likely to return to Yorkshire as a visiting player instead.
