Sheffield United close to beating Leeds United in Luke Thomas race amid Manchester United twist – Sky Sports
Sheffield United look set to beat Leeds United to the signing of Leicester City defender Luke Thomas, according to Sky Sports.
The news outlet reported on its live transfer feed (08:39am) that the Blades are close to finalising a loan move for the 22-year-old.
The Whites had looked likely to land a deal for the Foxes left-back, who has also been linked with Manchester United, but their Yorkshire rivals now appear to be in pole position.

Another blow
This latest development marks yet another blow to Leeds’ transfer hopes after they have endured a number of setbacks already this summer.
Daniel Farke is desperate to add a left-side defender to his ranks as his side are a little bit short in the fullback areas, with Sam Byram currently occupying the position, but his fitness can’t be relied upon.
The signing of Thomas would’ve added some real quality to the Whites, but a move back up to the Premier League appears to have won the left-back over.

It’s a little strange to see that he has been frozen out under new Leicester boss Enzo Maresca after previously making 56 appearances for the club in the top flight.
The fact that the Foxes can allow a player of his ability alongside fellow left-back Timothy Castagne to leave in the same window following the Belgian’s move to Fulham may send alarm bells around the Championship about the depth the Italian coach has at his disposal.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites appear to have lost out in their bid to sign a Premier League midfielder.
