Sebastiaan Bornauw exit to go down to the wire at Leeds United as silence broken
Sebastiaan Bornauw could still be on his way out of Leeds United this month.
Leeds bought Bornauw from Wolfsburg in the summer for a fee of around £5.1million, to add further strength in quality to Daniel Farke‘s backline.
The centre-back has managed to play just six times in total for the Whites, with many questioning whether a January loan would be a sensible move.
FC Koln have been linked with Bornauw ahead of a potential loan deal that would see the defender return to his former side for more game time.
The last thing the 49ers and Farke want is to be messed around at this window, but they may have to be patient, given FC Koln’s stance on winter arrivals.

FC Koln’s vice-president says they will be patient in January
There have been suggestions that Leeds could keep Bornauw, with Joe Rodon’s slight knock potentially giving the Whites a reality check.
But Rodon’s swift recovery once again puts Bornauw back to the bottom of Farke’s pecking order, with a January move still possible.

In an interview with German outlet Express on Tuesday, FC Koln’s vice-president, Ulf Sobek, detailed what his and the Bundesliga club’s view is on new signings in the January market.
Sobek said: “It’s incredibly difficult to get players in the winter. But we still have until the end of January to act.”
If Sobek is hinting that this will be FC Koln’s way of dealing with transfer activity, then Leeds could be left in the dark when it comes to finding Bornauw’s replacement.
At the end of the day, he may not be a regular starter, but he is needed for cover at Elland Road.

What centre-backs have Leeds identified?
Rodon, Jaka Bijol, and Pascal Struijk are all of Farke’s favourites in Leeds’ new 3-5-2 setup, with Bornauw a usual starter on the bench.
The Whites have been looking in the transfer market for many attackers, but still have defensive options on the shortlist.
Leeds have been tipped with a move for Natan, a central defender who plays for Real Betis in La Liga.
But the Whites may also turn their attention to Chibuike Mwaiwu from Austrian outfit Wolfsberger AC, should Bornauw depart Elland Road this window.
It’s going to be a busy summer of in’s and out’s for Farke’s side, and Bornauw’s case is one to keep an eye on.
