Sean Longstaff ditches Pini Zahavi to sign with new world-class agency
Leeds United midfielder Sean Longstaff has left Pini Zahavi to link up with a new agency.
The then-23-year-old signed a deal with the super agent in a high-profile deal while at Newcastle United in December 2020.
There was an expectation that he would then go on to seal a transfer away from St James' Park.
He instead put pen to paper on a new three-year deal with the Magpies in May 2022.
Now at 28 he finds himself at Elland Road after a summer move after the Whites' promotion to the Premier League.
Longstaff has gone on to struggle with a lack of minutes in LS11 and has now changed agent with the transfer window open.
Sean Longstaff signs up with The Team, formerly Wasserman Agency
There is always movement at this time of year as players look to new agents to help better their careers.
That is usually through finding a move from their current destination and that may prove to be something the midfielder wants to do.
On Wednesday, The Team announced that Longstaff had joined them in an Instagram statement.
The agency was formerly known as Wasserman, a world-class setup known for managing the likes of Federico Valverde, Tino Livramento and Curtis Jones among others.
They opted to change their name in March 2026 after their parent company opted to sell just a month prior.
Longstaff has now linked up with the elite agency to move away from Zahavi after six years and may have thrown his future at Leeds into doubt.
Is this a result of Longstaff's change of squad role?
There typically isn't smoke without fire in these sorts of moves as the Englishman lands new representatives.
It could represent a change in his career strategy after his previous move to work out with Zahavi.
Longstaff never got his big move and found himself stagnating at Newcastle despite their rise under Eddie Howe.
Finding himself as a bit-part player at Leeds clearly isn't where he saw his career going.
Linking up with The Team could see discussions held over a move away from Elland Road before the new Premier League season begins.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 28-year-old and what impact this career change could have.
