Santiago Gimenez exit set as Leeds United can sign new striker on one condition

AC Milan striker Santiago Gimenez is set to leave in the winter transfer window amid interest from Leeds United.

The Rossoneri are looking to bolster their attack in January and replace the Mexico international, who hasn’t lived up to expectations in Italy so far.

Elland Road could be Gimenez’s next destination, with the Whites keeping tabs on his situation at San Siro.

49ers Enterprises should back Daniel Farke by signing a new striker, and it seems like the West Yorkshire outfit already have plans in place to do so.

AC Milan want new striker before selling Leeds United target Santiago Gimenez

Gimenez’s sale in the upcoming transfer window will depend on whether Milan can find a replacement for him, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The news outlet reports on 13 December that while there is interest in the striker from Elland Road and West Ham United, the developments are still in the early stages.

It looks like the Whites will have to wait for the Italian giants to bolster their attack before they can pull off a move for the former Feyenoord attacker.

Gimenez has been on Leeds’ radar for a while now, but it remains to be seen whether they can finally get a deal over the line for him.

With Milan clearly actively looking to get rid of the 24-year-old in January, the West Yorkshire outfit may be able to agree a loan or a cut-price deal for the centre-forward who moved to San Siro for around £28million.

Daniel Farke has evident transfer priority at Elland Road

Lukas Nmecha’s fitness issue will surely be a cause for concern for Farke, with the forward forming an impressive partnership with Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

In the former VfL Wolfsburg attacker’s absence, Noah Okafor partnered the Englishman up front, but the 5-3-2 formation didn’t seem to work against Liverpool.

It was only after the German manager made substitutions and changed his formation that Leeds mounted a comeback in the 3-3 draw at Elland Road.

Farke doesn’t seem to trust Joel Piroe this season, making the addition of a new number nine an evident priority for the West Yorkshire outfit, but whether that will be Gimenez remains to be seen.
