Sam Greenwood sends two-word message as Leeds United contract announcement made at Elland Road
Sam Greenwood has sent a two-word message on social media after contract news has emerged on Leeds United forward Mateo Joseph.
The Whites announced in a statement on their website on Friday (19 January) that the 20-year-old has signed a new long-term contract, which will keep him at Elland Road until 2028.
The England U-20 international posted a photo of himself signing the deal on Instagram, with the 21-year-old Greenwood, who is currently out on loan at Middlesbrough, responding by saying “Congrats bro”.
Positive
It’s positive news for Leeds that Joseph has committed his long-term future to the club as he is regarded as a promising talent for the future.
While his opportunities in the first team have been limited, the forward has put in plenty of top performances for the Whites’ youth sides, earning him a place in the England U-20 squad.
With attacking midfielder Greenwood and plenty of his other teammates congratulating him on the deal, it’s clear to see that he’s a popular figure at the club.

Perhaps he might look at what Greenwood has done while on loan at Middlesbrough this season and think that a temporary spell away from West Yorkshire could provide him with the necessary experience to make a push for the first team.
The club will be looking to ensure as many of their youngsters are provided with a pathway into the senior side as possible to back up all the great work the youth coaches have done over the past few years.
In other Leeds United news, Farke has shared the Whites’ stance on making a loan move permanent.
