Rubin Kazan star Kvaratskhelia confirms he's held talks with Leeds United

Rubin Kazan winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has confirmed that he’s been in talks over a potential move to Leeds United and those talks “may continue”.

Kvaratskhelia, 20, has been linked with a move to Elland Road for several weeks after an impressive season in the Russian Premier Liga with Rubin Kazan.

In April, FootballFanCast reported that Victor Orta had been in talks with the Georgia international’s agent about a potential move to Yorkshire.

Now, it seems that talks have taken place but Kvaratskhelia would seemingly prefer a move to Liverpool.

As quoted by Georgian website Sportall, he said: “At this stage, I can not confirm anything, but negotiations are underway with many teams. Everything is in a crucial phase.

“For me, at this age, the most important playing time and where I get more, my heart goes out to me.

“There is already high competition in all strong teams and it will be better for me.

“I get pleasure from watching Spanish La Liga. Almost every club here plays well with the ball. My dream is to play for a team that spends almost the entire game with the ball.

“As for the spread of information – there were negotiations with Leeds and it may continue again. I do not like to talk in advance.

“I think the most interesting thing will be working with Jürgen Klopp.

“My main goal is to win the Champions League and I will do my best for it!”

Yes, please

Marcelo Bielsa is a fan of having plenty of wingers to choose from in his squad.

At the end of the last summer transfer window, the Whites went out and bought Brazilian winger Raphinha from Rennes when we all expected them to land a central midfielder after the Michael Cuisance deal fell through.

But Bielsa’s decision to sign Raphinha worked wonders with him tearing up the Premier League and massively increasing his value already.

We think something similar could happen with Kvaratskhelia.

It remains to be seen how much Leeds would have to pay to prise the left-winger away from Rubin Kazan but transfermarkt says he’s valued at around £15.5million.

It wouldn’t be as much as we paid for Raphinha but at least we knew with him that he’d been able to shine in a top European league with Rennes.

Russia’s Premier Liga isn’t bad but it’s hardly the Premier League or Ligue 1 but Kvaratskhelia had a good season in it, scoring four goals and assisting eight in 23 appearances.

He’s young, he’s clearly hungry and Leeds are obviously interested.

We’d be happy with the Georgia international joining us.
