Roma want to start summer with a ‘bang’ as Leeds United exit news emerges
Leeds United defender Diego Llorente is set to sign another loan deal with Roma as the Italians look to start their summer with a “bang”, according to Corriere della Sera.
On page 11 of the national publication’s 5 June edition, it was reported that Roma will look to get their summer business sorted early on in the window.
Leeds man Llorente – who has been on two loans across 18 months at the Stadio Olimpico – is looking likely to be on his way back through the entrance door alongside Angelino, who has made his loan permanent for around £4.3m.
Llorente wants to leave Leeds and stay in Italy
The player himself has made it clear previously that he sees Rome as home following the last 18 months, and with Leeds United consigned to the Championship, that will still remain the case.
The 30-year-old Spaniard, brought in as Marcelo Bielsa’s man in 2020, has now made only six fewer appearances at his loan club than during his time at Elland Road, and has featured heavily in European football for I Giallorossi.
A permanent deal has also been mooted – and is likely to be what Leeds would prefer as they look to raise significant funds by the end of this month to pay historical transfer instalments worth over £70m.

But a loan could be easier to manage for now and would get Llorente back off the wage bill in West Yorkshire, as the club looks to offload a number of returning loanees in a bid to keep the likes of Archie Gray and Illan Meslier whilst still balancing the books.
In other Leeds news, a journalist has predicted Wilfried Gnonto will stay at Elland Road.
