Roma ready to sell one of two internationals to buy Leeds United flop Ramus Kristensen in £6m+ deal

Roma are ready to offload a player in order to finance a £6million-plus move to sign Rasmus Kristensen permanently from Leeds United, according to Il Romanista.

The Italian news outlet reported on Friday (8 December) that the 26-year-old’s impressive recent form in Rome has led to the Serie A club wanting to sign him permanently as soon as possible.

It is understood that an option-to-buy clause has already been agreed with Leeds with Roma set to pay between £6million and £10.3million for the Denmark international depending on what division the Whites are in next season.

Il Romanista claims it is “increasingly certain” that Roma will buy Kristensen permanently but in doing so, that would mean either Turkey international Zeki Celik or Netherlands international Rick Karsdorp would leave the Stadio Olimpico as early as January.

You’re welcome to him

Kristensen had a slow start to life in Rome.

He missed out on their Europa League squad and despite starting a whole bunch of Serie A games, he just couldn’t build up a good enough head of steam.

Eventually, in October, he found himself starting games on the bench.

After biding his time, Kristensen came off the bench last weekend (3 December) when Roma were 1-0 down away at Sassuolo in Serie A.

He changed the game, winning a penalty that was scored by Paulo Dybala before scoring an 82nd-minute winner.

It’s odd to think Roma would be willing to get rid of one of their existing players to sign a loanee who’s mainly struggled for them in a multi-million deal.

But then again, this is the same Roma that’s seen value in signing Kristensen and Diego Llorente on loan from us in the first place.

Kristensen was a huge flop for us last season so the Italians are most welcome to have him.
