Roma forces way in to seal Wilfried Gnonto transfer in Leeds United news

Roma are exploring the option of bringing Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto back to Italy, and are offering the chance to develop his game under Jose Mourinho, according to Tutto Atalanta.

The Italian news source reported on 21 August that Roma have forced themselves into the discussion as the situation is developing rapidly, and will offer him an opportunity to display his talents in Serie A, having left Inter Milan in search of first-team football before ever playing for the club.

Along with Roma, Atalanta are also interested in securing Gnonto’s signature, although that move is more in the background as they do not view him as a priority signing as things stand.

The situation will drag on

Leeds fans, as well as everybody involved with the club, will be sick to death of the constant rumours circling around Gnonto, but they look set to drag on until the transfer window closes on 1 September.

It has been widely reported that Leeds will refuse to sell the winger this summer, having already rejected multiple big-money offers from Everton, and are likely to reject any advances from Italian sides too, unless there is an offer they simply can’t afford to turn down.

The opportunity to play in Serie A will be a tempting one for Gnonto, who has gone on strike in an effort to force his way out of the club, with the European Championships set to take place next summer where he will be looking to get into the Italy squad.

Along with the opportunity to impress his international coach, he would also be learning under one of football’s most revered and respected managers in Mourinho, whose time at Roma has reignited the praise for his managerial prowess.

In other Leeds United news, one exit deal has collapsed after recent media developments.
