Rodrigo Muniz ‘set for move’ after huge Leeds United development

Leeds United appear to be strengthening their first team well ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

Having secured promotion from the Championship, the owners will be keen on avoiding relegation, given the huge gulf in revenues.

Thus far, the Whites have made four first-team signings with Gabriel Gudmundsson, Jaka Bijol, Lukas Nmecha and Sebastiaan Bornauw arriving.

Rodrigo Muniz appears to be closing in on a move to Elland Road

Sources have told LeedsUnited.News (17 July) that the Whites are making progress to sign Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz.

While work is ongoing to sign new midfielders, there is hope of bringing the 24-year-old to Elland Road.

Leeds have already seen a bid rejected for Muniz, but have not given up on their pursuit of the Brazilian.

It’s expected that it would require a club-record offer in order to convince Fulham to sell him.

Leeds United must not prioritise the Muniz transfer

The Leeds United pursuit of Muniz for over £32million is a risky move that may not deliver value for money and they’d be better served scouting prolific strikers from lesser European leagues.

Muniz, while showing promise with 17 Premier League goals, may not be worth what the Cottagers are demanding.

His valuation is inflated, especially as Fulham rejected a £32 million offer and his physicality doesn’t fully compensate for his limited goal-scoring consistency compared to proven alternatives.

Leeds’ transfer budget demands smarter investments to ensure Premier League survival.

Instead, they should target strikers from leagues like Serie A, Eredivisie, or Primeira Liga, where players like Lecce’s Nikola Krstovic or Dynamo Kyiv’s Vladyslav Vanat offer higher goal tallies and better xG.

These players, available for £17-20million, provide proven goal-scoring at a fraction of Muniz’s cost, aligning with Farke’s need for a reliable number nine to avoid relegation.

Scouting lesser leagues maximises Leeds’ budget and minimises the risk of overpaying for unproven Premier League talent.
