Rodrigo makes Leeds United exit decision after Jorge Mendes transfer offer to Atletico Madrid
Leeds United ace Rodrigo was recently offered to Atletico Madrid by his agent but his future looks to lie elsewhere.
The striker has reportedly sealed a move away from Elland Road after the club’s relegation from the Premier League. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted (12 July) that he has joined Qatari side Al Rayyan.
However, according to Aaron Dominguez, the 32-year-old’s agent had still been trying to secure his client a European move as recently as a “few days ago.”
Dominguez tweeted (12 July) “A few days ago, Jorge Mendes offered him to Atletico Madrid among other clubs.”
Goodbye
Rodrigo’s future has been a talking point among Leeds supporters since the transfer window opened, however it has now been all but officially confirmed.
From a competitive point of view, a move to Spain and Atletico Madrid would have been more appealing as the Spaniard would have been given the opportunity to play Champions League football next season.
But it is now clear this switch has not materialised for whatever reason and Rodrigo will instead join Al Rayyan where he will most likely be getting paid a much higher salary, which surely would have been a crucial factor in the decision.

However, the most important piece of news here for supporters is that Rodrigo will not be playing his football in West Yorkshire this season and the goalscorer will most certainly be missed.
He gave everything he could in the Whites’ battle against relegation last season, finding the net 13 times, and it is certainly a big loss for the club.
In other Leeds United news, two new investors have come the opposite way and joined the club.
