Rodrigo leaves Leeds United for good as permanent transfer completed

Rodrigo Moreno has completed a switch from Leeds United to Qatar according to Asia Radio.

The Leeds United striker has widely been linked with a move away following the club’s relegation from the Premier League to the Championship.

Rodrigo was one of the club’s standout performers last season as the Spanish striker recorded an impressive 13 goals in 31 Premier League appearances, but he will not be sticking around to compete in England’s second tier.

That is according to Asia Radio who reported via Twitter (29 June) that the 32-year-old’s switch to Qatari side Al-Rayyan is complete.

Shame

It was always going to be a struggle to keep hold of Rodrigo and his departure represents a real loss for Leeds.

The Spaniard had a terrific goalscoring season for the club last time out, registering 15 times in all competitions despite the Whites’ ultimate relegation. It is a shame that fans now won’t get to see the former Valencia man kick on from this form.

Having arrived in West Yorkshire three years ago, the 2022/23 season represented Rodrigo’s best goalscoring season in a Leeds shirt to date. However, having now reportedly quit English football for Qatar, it seems as if the striker is leaving at the peak of his powers.

The club will now need someone to step up and replace the goals Rodrigo brought to the side last season as they look to fight their way out of the Championship.
