Rodrigo exit from Leeds United almost 100% complete

Rodrigo is on the verge of leaving Leeds United to join Sevilla, according to Spanish journalist Javier Bautista.

As quoted by Spanish news outlet Vamos Mi Sevilla on Wednesday (21 June), the COPE reporter claimed that Rodrigo’s move to Sevilla is “almost 100 per cent closed”.

Bautista first reported on Tuesday (20 June) on El Partidazo de COPE that Rodrigo, 32, is set to join the Europa League champions for just £3million due to a release clause in his contract that became active upon Leeds’ relegation to the Championship.

Bitter pill to swallow

When you look at this Leeds squad, there aren’t many that you’ll pick out and say you want them to stay.

Illan Meslier? Maybe. Tyler Adams, Wilfried Gnonto, Crysensio Summerville and Jack Harrison? Without a doubt.

Rodrigo? 100 per cent.

The former Valencia attacker was arguably Leeds’ best player last season.

He left absolutely nothing on the pitch and worse his heart on his sleeve in every appearance.

We Leeds fans don’t ask for the world – but we will always ask for that.

You can cast certain doubts among the other players mentioned. Either they’re not yet at their peak or they’ve had quiet and frustrating spells in and out of the side.

But Rodrigo last season was an unleashed, hyped-up rottweiler of a footballer.

Leeds will miss him massively and Sevilla will be a better team with him in their side as they bid to impress in Europe yet again after winning the Europa League.

We wish him all the best.
