Report: Leeds to challenge C'ship club for £15m forward in January

Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford has certainly silenced many of his critics this season at Elland Road.

The majority of those were Leeds fans, who consistently questioned whether or not the 26-year-old was playing well enough to justify his spot in the side at all.

Bamford has come out swinging in his second season in West Yorkshire though, transforming his game to become a key part of Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

His nine goals and counting aren’t what has impressed the most. The former Boro man has added much more physicality to his game – something which has seen him start to bully opposition defences.

Despite that, Football Insider has reported that the Whites have joined the race to sign Southampton forward Che Adams in January.

The reputable football outlet claim that Leeds will challenge Nottingham Forest for the former Birmingham man who has struggled with life in the Premier League.

It is suggested that Leeds want to strengthen their attacking options for their promotion push in the second half of the campaign.

It appears unlikely that Leeds would splash the cash in January given financial restrictions at Elland Road.

The only way this move would become possible was if Eddie Nketiah was recalled by Arsenal in the window, and then Southampton allowed Adams to leave on loan.

Given that the Saints spent £15million on the forward at the beginning of the season, that outcome appears highly improbable right now.
