Report: Leeds in pursuit of in-demand forward with 16 goals this season
Leeds United are in pursuit of Hull City forward Jarrod Bowen, according to 90min.
The news outlet claims that Newcastle, Bournemouth, Brighton, Sheffield United and Leeds’ Championship rivals West Brom are also keen on signing the 22-year-old goal machine.
Bowen’s existing deal at the KCOM Stadium expires at the end of the season and while 90min reports the Tigers do have the option to extend his contract by an extra year, top-flight clubs could soon table offers.
It is understood that despite his contract situation, Hull could be receptive to a “concrete offer from a top side”.
Bowen has scored 16 goals in 21 appearances across all competitions for Hull this season and he is currently preparing to play against Leeds at Elland Road on Tuesday night.
The former Hereford attacker scored twice in his last visit to Elland Road as Hull ran out 2-0 winners there last December.
Leeds would definitely be an improved side with Bowen in it but the chances of them pulling off a deal while they are still a Championship club are extremely low.
Bowen is one of the best players in the Championship – if not the best outside of Elland Road – and clubs are going to have to pay a lot of cash to sign the prolific forward.
Are Leeds likely to spend a lot of money in January? It does not seem that way at all and only if promotion to the Premier League is won then a player like Bowen could become a serious target.
But, for now, fans should really take these reports with a pinch of salt.
