Report: Leeds goalkeeper edges towards Elland Rd exit after demotion

Leeds United goalkeeper Kamil Miazek is edging closer towards leaving Elland Road in the summer transfer window, according to Football Insider.

The 23-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has been demoted to fourth-choice goalkeeper for the Yorkshire giants and that seems to have pushed the Polish shot-stopper closer to leaving.

It is understood that Leeds do have the option to extend Miazek’s contract by a further 12 months but he is unlikely to want to do that due to being so far out of the picture at Elland Road.

Leeds signed young Italian goalkeeper Elia Caprile from Chievo in January and he has become Marcelo Bielsa’s third-choice option in that position.

With Kiko Casilla banned, Illan Meslier stepped up to replace the Spaniard in goals on Saturday for the 4-0 win at Hull and Caprile took Meslier’s spot on the bench.

Miazek was third choice earlier this season while Meslier was injured but the Polish goalkeeper has failed to make a single first-team appearance in his time at Leeds and will turn 24-years-of-age in August.

Surely he does not want to continue playing for Leeds’ Under-23s when he is approaching his mid-20s and moving on is perhaps the best option for all parties.

In other Leeds United news, the written reasons for Casilla’s ban will not make pleasant reading for the Whites.
