Most of the noise surrounding Leeds United in this transfer window has come from Italy recently, with a recent report claiming that Leeds were set to make a £22.3m bid for Fiorentina midfielder Erick Pulgar. [Calciomercato]

However, a report from TMW claims that this potential January deal is now dead – until the summer at least.

They claim "in the last few hours [Leeds] has cooled its interest [in Pulgar] for the January window at least."

TMW also claim that Leeds could reignite a move for Rodrigo De Paul in the summer if he doesn't make a move to another club by February 1.

The report claims that Bielsa is still a fan of the Udinese player.

New pitch is all you're getting this month

It's taken the Italian media a while to catch up with what Leeds have been saying all January – that the club is closed for business in the winter.

To be fair, Leeds had said they would sign a player if the right opportunity came about and Pulgar did make a lot of sense.

And there is money to spend, as Leeds announced the acquisition of a brand new pitch on Friday, sourced from Tottenham at a cost of £300,000.

After the terrible state of the pitch in the last game against Brighton, some fans have been saying this is the best signing we could have made in January.

It should be fully bedded-in in time for the next home game against Everton a week on Wednesday.

By that time the January window will have shut and unless something really dramatic happens, the Leeds first-team squad will be the same as when it opened.

Pulgar and De Paul will be names that come up again ahead of the summer window when we do fully expect Leeds to make significant changes to the first-team squad.
