Reliable journalist shares what he’s been told about Leeds United bid for unnamed player
Brenden Aaronson is the only player who Leeds United are trying to sign right now, according to LeedsLive journalist Beren Cross.
The Athletic reported on Tuesday that a £15million bid for the USA midfielder, 21, has been rejected by Red Bull Salzburg.
Mirror journalist David Anderson followed that up on Twitter, saying later on last night [18 January] that another bid has been made for an “as of yet unidentified player”.
However, Cross has effectively rubbished that update, writing on the LeedsLive website: “From what I have been told, Aaronson is the only player they’re currently in for at the moment.”
Is one enough?
That should be the question Leeds United fans are asking and it should also be a question that Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta will be discussing too.
It sure seems as though Leeds have made Aaronson their top target for this transfer window and that makes sense as he adds depth to what has been a depleted midfield.
Injuries have wreaked havoc on Bielsa’s central options, which were light anyway and could have done with being added to in the last few transfer windows.

Adam Forshaw’s shock return to form has understandably dampened the need for central midfielders but Aaronson might not be enough, in our opinion.
Leeds’ form has started to pick up in the Premier League but it would be nice to see the Whites look into a full-back and maybe even a striker.
If they can sign those players, they can get them to spend five months working within the squad and getting ready for next season.
