Reliable journalist shares latest on Ben White saga, Graham Potter set for decision

Leeds United might have to wait a while before Brighton make a definitive decision on Ben White’s future, according to Alan Nixon.

Writing on his personal Twitter account on Sunday, The Sun journalist shared the latest on the saga surrounding the 22-year-old’s future, saying that Brighton boss Graham Potter wants to see him in pre-season training before decisions on transfer bids and contracts are made.

Sky Sports has recently reported that Leeds have tabled two bids worth up to £22million for White, while the defender has rejected two contract offers by Brighton.

Nixon has now suggested that a third contract offer could be on hold before the south coast club decide whether White’s deserving of a “large” new deal.

Based on what Leeds fans saw of White last season, he is worth whatever money Brighton can afford to pay him but we hope that the Seagulls don’t go down that route of throwing money at the player to keep him.

We understand why Potter would want to cast his eye over White during pre-season training and make a call on whether or not he will play much next season.

But, with Brighton having so many centre-backs in their squad, it is hard to see how White would get much game-time right now when Potter has more established options in his squad.

White is better than all of them but we would understand why Potter would rather stick with who he knows.

Leeds know White well. White knows Leeds. He and Marcelo Bielsa clearly work great together so we really hope that the centre-back makes the definitive call and say that he wants to play for the Whites in the Premier League.

In other Leeds United news, this player on Leeds’ radar is available for a £2.5million loan fee.
