Reliable journalist details chances of Nketiah return to Leeds on second loan spell
Leeds United are yet to replace Eddie Nketiah since Arsenal recalled the young striker due to his lack of game-time on loan at Elland Road.
It has been frustrating seeing the Whites try to replace Nketiah with widespread reports claiming that moves for Andre Gray and Che Adams have so far proven unsuccessful.
However a fan has posed an interesting question on the LeedsLive Q&A session on Friday; Can Leeds replace Nketiah – with Nketiah?
Although it could be seen as a solution, LeedsLive journalist Beren Cross has effectively ruled out the chances of the England Under-21 international going back on loan to the Championship club.
“This is probably less likely than Adams happening,” said Cross. “It didn’t work for Arsenal and Nketiah first time around, they have no reason to believe it would be any different if he came back, plus he’s already now seen minutes with the Gunners since going back. No chance.”
Leeds have not been able to land a young, up-and-coming striker from a Premier League club this month because of how little game-time Nketiah got.
Although he was a regular substitute, the Arsenal striker started just two Championship games and even they came in the festive period when the Gunners had basically made their mind up on recalling him.
Leeds have been linked with RB Leipzig striker Jean-Kevin Augustin now and he seems as though he could be a very clever addition this month, as long as Monaco allow him to end his loan spell with them early.
It sounds like a complicated deal so the Whites cannot afford to put all their eggs in one basket regarding Augustin.
Someone needs to come in soon though, otherwise fans will reach a new level of impatience.
