£10m+ Leeds United transfer on cards as Marc Roca agent update emerges

Real Betis have held conversations with the agent of Marc Roca amid hopes they can sign him for £12million in the summer if Leeds United fail in their promotion bid, according to Eldesmarque.

The Spanish news outlet reported on 15 January that if Leeds fail to gain promotion to the Premier League, Betis will have the option to either extend the loan for another year or activate a cheaper £12million permanent deal.

It is also said that there is no great rush for Betis to seal the deal immediately, although Roca would like to remain at the club beyond this season.

The move now seems inevitable

It is reported that promotion to the Premier League would mean Betis would need to negotiate with Leeds over a deal for Roca rather than having a clause available to them, which could make the deal hard to pull off.

Having spent the first half of the season on loan with Betis after leaving Elland Road following the club’s relegation, it feels inevitable that he will remain in Spain beyond the end of his current deal.

The Spanish club are hoping Leeds don’t earn promotion this season, as it would make the deal more difficult to pull off financially, and if the Yorkshire club remain in the Championship they will have several options to choose from to extend the midfielder’s stay.

However, even if Leeds are promoted, it looks unlikely that Roca would be willing to return to Elland Road, and therefore it may be in the best interests of all parties involved to come to an agreement for his transfer regardless of Leeds’ situation come May.

In other Leeds United news, the club are likely to keep a close eye on the Everton situation amid a possible legal claim.
