Rasmus Kristensen to jet in for medical as Leeds United exit now agreed

Rasmus Kristensen is on his way to Germany for a medical with Frankfurt after his exit from Leeds United was agreed, according to Florian Plettenberg.

Writing on his personal X account (18 July), the Sky Sports Germany journalist reports that the two clubs have a verbal agreement for a season-long loan deal with an option to buy for £12.6million next summer.

BILD journalist Erik Peters added via his personal X account (18 July) that the player is set to land in Germany on Thursday night, with a medical set to take place on Friday (19 July).

Leeds United secure big future fee for Rasmus Kristensen

This summer so far at Elland Road has been largely about outgoings and exits rather than incomings, and that continues to be the theme here.

Archie Gray moved to Tottenham for £40million, Glen Kamara has joined Rennes for £8.6million [Fabrizio Romano, 13 July] and there are big question marks about the future of several top first-team players like Wilfried Gnonto [talkSPORT, 16 July], Crysencio Summerville [Phil Hay, 27 May] and Junior Firpo [ABC, 16 July].

Kristensen spent last season on loan at Roma so Daniel Farke won’t have been counting much on him this season in reality, but the side are incredibly short on options at full-back now.

There are targets for the Whites to strengthen, but by allowing players to leave before any deals are agreed it just puts more pressure on the recruitment team to get deals done quickly.

Sealing a £12.6million fee for Kristensen is great business considering he clearly has no future at Elland Road. Now the hope is that he performs well enough for them to trigger that deal.

In other Leeds news, an Elland Road exit is “imminent” according to Fabrizio Romano.
