Rasmus Kristensen exit update emerges at Leeds United as official announcement imminent

Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen has completed his medical with Eintracht Frankfurt and an announcement is imminent, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Sports journalist reported via X on Friday (19 July) that the Danish defender has signed his initial loan deal with the Bundesliga club and his signing will be announced either on Friday or Saturday (20 July).

While Kristensen’s move to Germany does include an option to make his stay permanent for £12.6million, it has been reported that Frankfurt don’t have to take up this option if they decide not to in the future [Florian Plettenberg, 19 July].

Will Leeds United sell Rasmus Kristensen to Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer transfer window?

In an ideal world, Leeds United would have managed to shift Kristensen off of their wage bill permanently this summer, but a loan deal with an option to buy seems like a reasonable move for all parties at this stage.

The Danish defender doesn’t really have a place under Daniel Farke at this moment in time and he made it clear last season that he had very little interest in playing his part in a Championship campaign at Elland Road.

Getting his wage off the books at this stage of the transfer window is an excellent piece of business by the Whites. That money can be reinvested back into the squad as preparation continues for another promotion push.

Hopefully, Leeds will move to sign a new right-back sooner rather than later as they are slightly short in that position having lost Archie Gray to Tottenham earlier this summer.

Jayden Bogle has been consistently linked with a move to Elland Road [The Star, 16 July] and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Whites submit a new offer once Kristensen’s loan exit is announced.
