Rasmus Kristensen Leeds United exit ‘Imminent’ – Fabrizio Romano
Rasmus Kristensen is set to sign for Eintracht Frankfurt and leave Leeds United once again, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Writing on his personal X account (18 July), the reliable transfer journalist reports that the Denmark international will join the Bundesliga club imminently.
No details on the deal have been revealed, although YEP journalist Graham Smyth reports that a loan deal was more likely than a permanent exit [18 July].
Leeds United lose another first-team defender
Daniel Farke must be very confident that Leeds are going to be able to bring some defenders into the club during this transfer window, because options are very slim right now.
Kristensen is mainly a right-back but he has played at centre-back before and that versatility could be key. Currently Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk, Max Wober and Ethan Ampadu are the only centre-back options while Sam Byram is the only right-back option in the squad.
Kristensen spent last season out on loan with AS Roma but failed to really make an impact and they rejected the chance to make that move permanent.
The player was expected to hold talks with the manager at Thorp Arch this week after returning to pre-season [YEP, 13 July], and it seems that the decision was made to allow him to leave. He rejected a move to Midtjylland to move to Germany [Mirror, 18 July].
Leeds now need to ensure they get to work on the incomings, because they are desperately short. But it’s not surprise Kristensen is leaving, and if it is on loan then a permanent deal surely won’t be far away in the future.
