Rasmus Kristensen close to verbal agreement for Leeds United exit amid Eintracht Frankfurt update
Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen is close to reaching a verbal agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Sports journalist reported via X on Tuesday (16 July) that the defender has held concrete talks with the Bundesliga club and personal terms are not expected to be an issue between the two parties.
Kristensen is eager to play in the Bundesliga, but so far the Whites and Frankfurt are yet to reach an agreement over a potential summer transfer at this stage.
Will Rasmus Kristensen exit Leeds United for Eintracht Frankfurt amid transfer speculation?
Kristensen was never going to be keen on sticking around in the Championship with Leeds United this summer after he departed Elland Road as quickly as he possibly could following relegation from the Premier League.
A move to Frankfurt does make sense for the Danish international as it would allow him to continue playing at the highest level following his loan stint with Roma last term and it could also appeal to Leeds.
The Whites will be eager to get the defender off of the wage bill this summer. Ideally, they would like Kristensen to complete a permanent move away from Elland Road, however, another loan switch cannot be ruled out.
Daniel Farke seems to already be preparing for life without the fullback as he eyes a summer move for Sheffield United star Jayden Bogle [The Star, 16 July].
Although terms are yet to be agreed, his signing would push Kristensen even further down the pecking order.
Hopefully, the two clubs will be able to reach an agreement sooner rather than later so that this deal can be completed well before the start of the season.
It won’t benefit Leeds or Kristensen if this transfer sage rumbles on throughout pre-season.
