Raphinha reacts to multi-million Leeds United transfer news with fire emoji

Leeds United fans are dealing with the news Rodrigo has left the club and former Elland Road star Raphinha has reacted to the announcement on Instagram.

The Daily Mail reported on 13 July that the Spanish international has joined Qatari side Al Rayyan after his £3m relegation release clause was triggered.

The 32-year-old took to Instagram to send an emotional farewell message to the Leeds fans following “three wonderful years” at the club, prompting his former teammate Raphinha to respond to the post with a fire emoji.

Disheartening

While it will be heartwarming for Leeds fans to see a nice exchange between two former players, it will no doubt bring back memories of where the club sat two years ago.

The duo helped secure a top-half Premier League finish and the club appeared to be very much up on the up before a couple of disappointing seasons followed and they now find themselves back in the Championship.

It’s clear to see the pair had a great friendship given their Brazilian roots and they both put in some superb performances in a Whites shirt.

It will be disheartening for fans to see Rodrigo move on for such a measly fee following an excellent season personally for the forward, where he scored 13 goals in 31 appearances.

It’s nice to see him pay such a heartfelt tribute to the club and he will be remembered fondly.

In other Leeds United news, outgoing Andrea Radrizzani liked a tweet criticising a former Whites director.
