Radrizzani right-hand man in talks today as Leeds ready £26.8m bid for South American - report
Leeds United are preparing to table a bid worth £26.8million for Lazio centre-back Luiz Felipe, according to La Lazio Siamo Noi.
The Italian news outlet, which centres on Lazio news, reports that Andrea Radrizzani’s right-hand man Lorenzo Tonetti held talks with Lazio earlier today (Thursday) to understand whether or not a deal is achievable.
Tonetti checked in at a gym in Milan on Instagram on Thursday morning. While he’s not in Rome to hold face-to-face discussions with Lazio there, at least we can see he’s in Italy.
Tonetti’s talks with Lazio must have led to him being told that Felipe might be sold by Lazio this summer if the fee is right because Leeds are now said to be ready to bid £26.8million for him.
However, La Lazio Siamo Noi adds that Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito wants up to £7.1million more for the Brazilian centre-back, who’s also attracted attention from Barcelona and PSG.
Leeds need to sort out their centre-back situation as soon as possible after Ben White’s loan ended and Brighton took the decision not to sell him to the newly-promoted Yorkshire club.
Robin Koch is widely reported to be the centre-back who Leeds are turning to but it seems that Felipe is another one of the irons that the club has in the fire.
Tonetti’s contact with Lazio suggests that Felipe is high on Leeds’ shortlist of potential new centre-backs but we would expect them to try and push forward with signing Koch first.
German magazine Kicker has reported that Newcastle, AC Milan and, interestingly, Lazio are also interested in Koch so there is a chance of Leeds missing out on the Germany international.
If Koch does go elsewhere, Felipe could become a more serious target.
