Radrizzani & Orta jet out for transfer talks with Leeds targets – Sky Sports journalist
Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani and director of football Victor Orta have been flying abroad for transfer talks with certain players, according to Sky Sports journalist Tim Thornton.
Leeds have had a busy start to the summer, securing a new loan for Jack Harrison while adding Helder Costa and Illan Meslier to the squad on full-time deals.
They’ve also been busy strengthening their youth options too with Joe Gelhardt, Charlie Allen and Cody Drameh all arriving.
However, we’re yet to see any new faces who will certainly be in the senior squad next season.
Thornton has reported that Leeds are keen on a new striker and Radrizzani and Orta have been jetting out to undergo talks with certain targets.
“Leeds are looking at the striker area. Talks have been taking place,” Thornton said on Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast.
“Both Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta have been abroad, talking to different players over the course of the last few weeks.
“We could see them add another winger as well, or another playmaker. Bielsa does like his wingers.”
It says a lot about Radrizzani’s hands-on approach to owning Leeds that he’s willing to fly out of the country – during a pandemic – to hold transfer talks with the club’s targets.
Someone who looked like Orta (we cannot be 100 per cent sure it’s him due to the face mask) was spotted at Manchester airport by a Leeds fan recently so he could’ve been on his way to try and lure a top player to Elland Road on that day.
It has been widely reported that Ben White is Leeds’ top target this summer but there are bound to be other players across Europe that the Whites are looking at.
German newspaper BILD has recently reported that Leeds have tabled a bid for Mainz attacker Jean-Paul Boëtius while Torino centre-back Lyanco [A Bola], Lille’s new striker Jonathan David [HLN] and Slavia Prague attacker Nicolae Stanciu [Daily Mail] are also among the players who’ve been linked with Elland Road.
None of them are really household names in England but Orta’s picked up some gems during his time at Leeds and we trust that he – coupled with Bielsa – can strike some more great deals this summer.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have tabled an offer for this Dutch attacker.
