PSV Eindhoven line up Joel Piroe transfer after crushing injury latest away from Leeds

Joel Piroe could be set to leave Leeds United in a January switch to PSV Eindhoven.

Leeds look set for a busy window full of incoming and outgoing deals, even after a largely positive Premier League campaign so far.

The Dutchman has emerged as a potential departure option from LS11, with Piroe already being linked to Middlesbrough this winter.

An Elland Road exit appears to be on the cards as Daniel Farke’s tactical change has hampered his minutes, even if the German still rates Piroe highly at Leeds.

Piroe could now be in line for a move to PSV, with injuries beginning to take their toll at the mid-way point of the season.

Joel Piroe could solve PSV Eindhoven injury problem

Leeds could push for Piroe’s exit in January if they are to bring in another attacking option to bolster their forward line.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha have been the go-to men this season, so letting the Dutchman go may not be the end of the world.

It could represent the perfect opportunity for PSV to solve a crisis of their own by bringing the former Swansea City man back to the Netherlands.

De Telegraaf journalist Jeroen Kapteijns has mooted Piroe as a potential signing for Peter Bosz’s side as an alternative to Ricardo Pepi.

The America international has picked up yet another winter injury, leaving the Dutch side in need of an alternative for the rest of the season.

The reporter spoke out on the situation, saying, “Last year, it was the end of January, and then Pepi injured his knee. Then it ended up being Lucas Perez. That wasn’t a success. Hopefully, they’ll have more success with their stopgap measure now, because that’s what it is, of course.

One name that was also mentioned is Piroe, who obviously plays less for Leeds United. But he (Piroe) is doing really well at Leeds United, where he had some wonderful years.

As things stand now, Piroe primarily wants to keep fighting for Leeds. And Leeds don’t necessarily want to lose him. But they will look at those kinds of options.

Piroe still has quality to offer at Leeds United

It would be a bold move for Farke to ship out Piroe and replace him with someone like Terem Moffi, who has no English football experience.

The 26-year-old may be better in the Championship, having scored 19 and won the golden boot last season, but has something to offer the Whites as a squad player.

His ability on the ball to create chances only adds to his eye for goal, which is yet to be seen in the Premier League.

As an alternative to Calvert-Lewin, or even as someone who can complement him as a second striker, he could be an asset the longer this season goes on.

An exit will ultimately depend on what sort of offer comes in, but any sort of cut-price offer from PSV is unlikely to go down well in Yorkshire.
