Player needs work permit to complete last-minute Leeds switch, personal terms offered – report

Leeds United are waiting to see if Rennes will accept their last-minute bid for Brazilian forward Raphinha, according to Goal.

The football news website claims that Leeds’ bid is below the £19million fee that Rennes paid for the 23-year-old last summer when he joined the Ligue 1 club from Sporting CP.

It is understood that Leeds have also offered favourable personal terms to Raphinha but the right-sided winger would need to obtain a work permit in order to move to England.

Goal adds that although the transfer window for international deals closes on Monday, time is still on Leeds’ side to get a deal done and dusted.

It has been widely reported that Marcelo Bielsa wants to add another winger to his squad before the transfer window closes and Raphinha could be a very solid addition based on his performances this season and last.

Last term, before the French season was called to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic, Raphinha scored five goals and supplied three assists in 22 Ligue 1 appearances.

He’s also started this season well by assisting two goals in five appearances to help Rennes sit top of the Ligue 1 table.

Stats by WyScout show that Raphinha has averaged 6.78 dribbles, 1.63 touches inside the penalty area and 1.63 shots at goal per 90 minutes of Ligue 1 football this season.

He’s very much someone who likes it cut inside and cause havoc in opposition penalty areas while also having the vision and cutting edge to be able to set up his team-mates.

We’d be big fans of Raphinha’s arrival at Elland Road if a deal happens.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have offered over £13million for this central midfielder.
