Player fails medical with Leeds, jetting out of UK tonight - reliable journalist

Many are wondering what on earth has happened to the deal that was supposed to take Bayern Munich midfielder Michael Cuisance to Leeds United.

Reports from Germany originally suggested that the deal broke down due to Leeds and Bayern being unable to agree a fee with one another.

However, The Athletic’s David Ornstein has posted a new update, claiming that Cuisance, 21, actually failed a medical with the Whites.

It is understood that a deal was agreed for the French midfielder, who arrived in England on Wednesday to undergo a medical.

However, after failing his checks, which highlight “injury problems”, the player is set to jet back out to Germany tonight (Thursday).

If the player has failed a medical then, unfortunately, there’s not really anything that can be done about it but it is odd that just last year he was passing a medical to join Bayern Munich.

Cuisance did have some minor issues with his ankle and groin last season but there was nothing serious that kept him on the sidelines for too long.

However, one of those injuries may have aggravated something more serious, which Bayern will have to check up on.

Leeds have had their fair share of bad luck with transfers over the years and even though they’re a Premier League club, they’re not immune to something like this happening.

Cuisance sounds as though he would have been a good signing with the Bundesliga website comparing the midfielder to Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil.

But it’s going to be back to the drawing board now for Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta.

Hopefully, there is someone else on Orta’s shortlist who can be snapped up as soon as possible with the international transfer window closing on Monday.

In other Leeds United news, the BBC have received complaints about this former Elland Road star.
