Phil Hay shares update Boubacar Kamara amid Leeds United transfer speculation
The Athletic journalist Phil Hay does not see Leeds United signing Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara this month.
The Mail on Sunday reported via their print edition at the weekend [2 January, page 141] that Kamara, 22, is among the players who Leeds would like to sign in January.
However, speaking on the latest episode of The Phil Hay Show, Hay has effectively ruled out Leeds signing the highly-rated Frenchman.

“I’ve seen Kamara at Marseille linked, he would be good,” said the ex-Yorkshire Evening Post journalist.
“I think they’ve looked at him but again, I don’t get the impression that they’re on with that one or if they’re going to do anything there.”
Massive shame
It’s hard to pretend we’re not gutted by this because Kamara would be an outstanding signing for Leeds United this month if they did manage to get him.
The 22-year-old has already wore the captain’s armband at Marseille at times this season and is versatile enough to play as a defensive or central midfielder, while he’s also capable of playing out wide.
Unfortunately, it’s going to be difficult to sign a player of this quality.
Sky Sports reported on 5 January that Manchester United, Newcastle United and Roma are also interested in Kamara with the Frenchman’s contract at Marseille due to expire in the summer.

Last summer, Scouted Football profiled Kamara and called him “one of the hottest prospects in France right now” and an “excellent defensive destroyer” in the midfield.
Kamara’s great in possession but also brilliant out of it with his ability to pressure opponents and winning the ball back.
He’d be perfect for Marcelo Bielsa but this one seems well out of Leeds’ reach.
In other Leeds United news, Dharmesh Sheth has shared an update on Leeds’ pursuit of a midfielder with one deal already wrapped up.
