Phil Hay shares Tyler Adams transfer news with Leeds United clause twist

Phil Hay has shared that Tyler Adams was at Thorp Arch on Wednesday 16 August with interest from Bournemouth not appearing to develop at Leeds United.

The Athletic journalist shared via his Twitter account that Daniel Farke gave strong hints without directly saying to the press that clauses had now expired.

It was also reported that Bournemouth’s interest in the USMNT captain doesn’t seem to have developed, despite reports [Fabrizio Romano, 14 August] that they had triggered his £20million release clause.

Finally a bit of good news

If the suggestion that release clauses in Leeds players’ contracts have now expired is true, then it is finally a piece of good news in what has been a miserable summer for Leeds – with the club and the fans alike in their frustrations.

Following their relegation from the Premier League, the club saw several release clauses become active, seeing most of their star players exit the club with very little money coming the other way for compensation. Most clauses were for loan moves, but Rodrigo left for a cut-price £3million in his deal.

Luis Sinisterra joins Adams on the list of current Leeds players who could now remain at the club for the rest of the Championship season, if it can be assumed that their release clauses have expired, despite both being heavily linked with exits.

Leeds United

If it is accurate, Leeds should now be able to focus their efforts on incoming players, as they still need to strengthen if they wish to be competitive at the right end of the table this season.

In other Leeds United news, Leicester and Southampton are set to rival the club in efforts to sign a new defender.
