Phil Hay shares fresh Leeds United release clause twist, updates on Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra

The relegation release clauses for Leeds United pair Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra have now expired, according to Phil Hay.

The Athletic journalist claimed (16 August) that amid their links away from Elland Road, Adams and Sinisterra will not leave the club through their release clauses which expired “earlier this week”.

Leeds suffered greatly from a wave of departing stars who utilised their relegation clauses to secure loan moves to top-flight clubs but can now command fees for both Adams and Sinisterra.

Finally

Leeds fans can now wave goodbye to the relegation release clauses that haunted the opening weeks of the window. Jack Harrison’s move to Everton is the latest in a long line of Leeds’ loan departures including Brenden Aaronson, Marc Roca and Rasmus Kristensen.

With Hay’s announcement, Leeds fans can rest easy that their star players won’t leave the club without something significant in return.

Both Adams and Sinisterra have been linked with moves away from the club, with the latter currently training away from the rest of the first team after declaring his desire to depart.

Leeds United

Adams however is still nursing an injury sustained before their Premier League relegation. He looked the width of a hair away from joining Chelsea who, according to the Daily Mail (5 August), were set to activate his £20million release clause.

However, the deal never transpired as the Blues feared the extent of Adams’ absence, as per the Daily Mail (12 August), meaning the USMNT star may have to look elsewhere if he wants a move away from Leeds.

Elsewhere, Daniel Farke’s side will demand no less than £22million for Sinisterra, according to Pipe Sierra (16 August).

But most crucially for the Whites, if these players are sold in this window, the fees they may command will give them a massive boost in the market as they look to improve across the pitch.

In other Leeds United news, a fresh Elland Road departure is set to be announced.
