Phil Hay shares emphatic update on Leeds United duo Raphinha and Phillips after West Ham bids

Leeds United are not open to offers for Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips and will not sell them before the 11pm transfer deadline tomorrow (Monday), according to Phil Hay.

Writing via his personal Twitter account on Sunday morning [30 January], The Athletic journalist rubbished the notion that either Phillips, 26, or Raphinha, 25, would leave amid reported bids from West Ham.

The Sun reported on Saturday [29 January] that West Ham have made a £50million bid for Phillips and 90min claims an offer of the same amount was submitted for Raphinha.

Both bids were reportedly rejected by Leeds.

Guardian reporter Fabrizio Romano has added Leeds’ stance will not change but adds that Raphinha is “one to watch” for the summer.

Good

Leeds cannot afford to sell anyone between now and the January transfer window closing – simply because we do not feel as though anyone will be signed to replace them.

If either are sold, it could even lead to Marcelo Bielsa packing his bags and quitting the club because he’d know that the team will be in serious trouble.

Leeds have been offered £100million by West Ham for both players but that doesn’t even seem like it’s anywhere near enough.

West Ham value Declan Rice at being worth more than that – is one Rice worth the same as Raphinha and Phillips combined? Absolutely not.

You cannot blame the Hammers for trying because at the end of the day, why would you not try to sign two of the best players in the league?

Phillips has been incredible for Leeds and England and Raphinha has been one of the best wingers in the league this term.

But neither can be sold and neither should be sold.

If they do go, they will go in the summer and they will probably join a far more successful club than West Ham.

In other Leeds United news, the club has made a last-gasp approach to sign this Ligue 1 forward who’s valued at £16.8million.
