Phil Hay responds as Leeds United reportedly agree terms with Noa Lang
Phil Hay has responded to a report from Belgium that claims Leeds United have agreed personal terms with Club Brugge forward Noa Lang.
Voetbal Belgie has this week reported that Leeds remain in talks with Brugge over a fee but a contract has been agreed with 22-year-old Lang.
The Athletic journalist Hay was asked whether the story was true and he said: “In fairness, it’s true that Leeds/Orta have been looking at Lang.”
Hay was also asked whether he’d put money on Leeds signing another player before the end of the month.
However, the ex-Yorkshire Evening Post reporter didn’t want to do one of his infamous Twitter jinxes.
“I’d put money on me inevitably being wrong,” he said. “Shall I try and work a reverse jinx for you?”

Praying it’s correct
Leeds have had a very quiet summer transfer window but signing Lang from Club Brugge would definitely get fans out of their seats.
Victor Orta hasn’t had much to do in terms of adding to the first team.
We started the summer needing a left-back, a back-up goalkeeper if Kiko Casilla left, a central midfielder and potentially a winger.
Out of those, two of them have been sorted out while Huddersfield’s Lewis O’Brien is strongly linked with Leeds to become Marcelo Bielsa’s newest central midfielder.
As far as wingers go, we haven’t seen much in terms of progress and it does seem as though it’s something that will wait until later in the transfer window if the right player becomes available.
And Lang is 100 per cent the right player.
The Dutch forward is absolutely electric and can play anywhere in the attack.
Let’s hope Orta can pull this one off by agreeing a fee with Club Brugge to wrap up the transfer.
In other Leeds United news, this star player has been ruled out of the clash against Everton on Saturday.
