Phil Hay: Some Leeds United players to force Elland Road exit if promotion bid fails
Phil Hay has suggested that some Leeds United players may look to leave Elland Road in the summer transfer window if they fail to win promotion to the Premier League.
He reported for The Atheltic (9 May) that Crysencio Summerville could depart for a large fee, bringing in a “substantial amount of profit”.
This would play a key role in keeping the Whites within PSR limits as they prepare for yet another season in the Championship.
Hay also reported that Archie Gray is “Leeds’ most valuable asset” but does not believe he will be sold anytime soon.
His future has been secured by a recent contract which sees him tied down until 2028 at Elland Road.
Could Leeds United sell Crysencio Summerville?
The Championship Player of the Year has obviously made a great impact under Daniel Farke this season in a promotion chase.
Although the Whites fell short in the end, with the Dutchman’s quality they have a positive chance of winning the playoffs.
With 19 goals and nine assists in the Championship [FotMob], he has been the spark to keep the Leeds flame burning throughout the season.
In a worst-case scenario where promotion isn’t secured via the playoffs, then Farke and Co. will have to consider their options.

It is likely that at least some sales will have to be made to fall in line with PSR rules for the upcoming season in the second tier.
With the form that he has been in this year, Summerville would be easy to move on for a good price in the summer.
With that being said, if promotion is achieved the forward must be kept at all costs as he will be the driving force behind Premier League security.
