Phil Hay: Leeds United midfielder Jamie Shackleton could undergo Millwall medical on Tuesday
Leeds United midfielder Jamie Shackleton is set to join Millwall on a season-long loan, according to The Athletic journalist Phil Hay.
Writing on The Athletic’s live transfer news blog on Monday (18 July, 12:50pm), Hay reported that Shackleton, 22, could undergo a medical with the Championship club as early as Tuesday (19 July).
It is understood that Leeds and Millwall are both on the verge of an agreement for the versatile player’s loan after he was left out of Jesse Marsch’s squad for the pre-season tour of Australia.

Hay adds that Shackleton is set to arrive at The Den in time for the 2022/23 Championship season, which kicks off next week.
Good luck, Shacks
Shackleton definitely needs this loan.
Although he’s a versatile player who can feature in the midfield or as a right-back, Jesse Marsch has added strength to those positions this summer.
It’s no doubt led to Shackleton being pushed further down the pecking order.
Shackleton will turn 23-years-of-age in October and he needs to be playing regularly and not being sat on the first-team’s bench or being played in the Under-23s.
He should get plenty of game-time at Millwall, who performed well in the Championship last season.
But once that loan spell is up, it might be a good idea for Leeds to consider selling their academy product.

Shackleton will enter the last year of his contract next year so it’ll be the best time to sell him off and make some money on him.
He’s not a Premier League player, unfortunately, but he could do a very good job for a number of decent teams in the Championship.
We might be able to get a seven-figure fee for the versatile midfielder if he does well at Millwall so there’s no doubt that Victor Orta will keep a close eye on his progress in South-East London.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign this “phenomenal” striker who’s seen as a “perfect” partner for Patrick Bamford.
