Phil Hay details January transfer plans for Leeds United, Southampton and Leicester City
Phil Hay has detailed the plans for promotion rivals Leeds United, Southampton and Leicester City for the upcoming January transfer window.
Writing on The Athletic website on Friday (8 December), the journalist said the Whites are more focused on retaining what they already have at their disposal rather than “dramatically adding to their squad”.
He revealed that the Saints may try to bring in a winger after they failed to add a player in that position over the summer, while the Foxes are keen to sign a left-sided defender and a central midfielder.

Could be the difference
It’s no real surprise to see that three out of the top four clubs in the Championship are the ones that are benefitting from parachute payments following their relegations from the Premier League.
There is often a lot of pressure placed on teams ahead of the January window as it’s a crucial point in the campaign that could make or break a season.
The Whites will be desperate to keep hold of some of their prized assets, with the likes of Crysencio Summerville being linked with a move away from Elland Road.

It sounds as though the intention at Southampton and Leicester is to improve their squads, though, in a bid to give them an extra push in their fight for an immediate return to the top flight.
But any signings do have to be well thought through as the last thing they will want is to upset the apple cart on the back of solid starts to the campaign.
