Personal terms a ‘Big Issue’ in Leeds United pursuit of Swansea City striker Joel Piroe
Leeds United will have a “big issue” agreeing personal terms with Swansea striker Joel Piroe after making a move for him, reports Alan Nixon.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (23 August), the newspaper journalist was responding to a follower after it was reported that there was a decent-sized gap in the fee Leeds wants to pay and Swansea want to receive for the striker.
But Nixon revealed that personal terms would be something that needs sorting before a deal can move for ward too, as he described them as a “big issue”.

“Personal terms will be an issue to sort too… a big issue,” he wrote.
Progress
The fact Leeds have seemingly finally identified their main striker target and decided to make their move is certainly positive.
It’s been a clear need all summer and now the club have decided to step up their interest with a little over a week remaining in the window, you would assume that they have done their checks behind the scenes and know if the player is interested or not.

With personal terms likely to be an issue it must be something that all parties are confident of finding an agreement over sooner rather than later, or this is just a huge waste of time.
A striker is needed quickly with the fitness of Patrick Bamford still an issue and the futures of Wilfried Gnonto, Luis Sinisterra and Crysencio Summerville still in the air, and Piroe fits the bill.
But he is out of contract next summer so overpaying is something the club must be wary of. Leeds need to get this right as promotion could hinge on it, but there’s still a long way to go clearly.
