Patrick Bamford’s wife green-lights Leeds exit to complete overseas transfer
Leeds United are aiming to sign a striker this summer, and this could mean that Patrick Bamford departs the club.
Bamford joined Leeds in 2018, and was a strong option for a few years under Marcelo Bielsa, but the last few seasons have been a struggle.
Leeds are now back in the Premier League and are looking for a striker who can lead the line in the top-flight, but Bamford is far from an ideal option in this sense.
The 31-year-old could be allowed to leave Elland Road this summer, and he may already have his next destination in mind.

Bamford hints at MLS move after Leeds exit
Bamford has now revealed that he would be open to a move to play in MLS in the USA, once his time at Leeds comes to an end, and his family have given him the green light to do so.
Speaking in an interview with CBS Sports, Bamford claimed that he would love to play in MLS one day, and has spoken to his family about a move.
“I think it’s something that over time with Michaela [Ireland], I’d spoken to her about it, playing abroad, with America one of the options,” Bamford replied when asked about a potential MLS move.
“It was something that when I was younger, I always wanted to do at some point in my career to experience it – a new country, a new lifestyle there and also trying myself in a new league.

“Once you have a family and a wife, it’s got to be run by them, and to be fair they gave it the green light.
“They said ‘we’re going to go with whatever’s best for you and whatever challenge you want to take,’ so it is something I would be open to, I just don’t know when yet.”
Leeds should part ways with Bamford this summer
Bamford is one of Leeds’ highest earners, and has one year left on the £70k-per-week deal he previously signed.
That wage was reduced to £30k per week when Leeds were relegated to the Championship, but this is set to increase again at the end of June following their promotion.
Bamford failed to score in 17 Championship games this season, and is clearly not cut out for the top-flight anymore.
Leeds and Bamford should now part ways, and if there was a time for the Englishman to make a move abroad, this could be his best opportunity.
