Patrick Bamford transfer priority emerges after Leeds United exit

Patrick Bamford is yet to find a new club after leaving Leeds United late last month.

Bamford’s Leeds contract was mutually terminated as it became clear that the Whites could not find a potential suitor to take the former England international off their hands.

Daniel Farke informed Bamford that he was not part of his plans for the Premier League, and unsurprisingly so, given the striker’s goal return over the last few seasons.

Bamford’s contract at Leeds was extremely lucrative, but finding a new club where he can earn a similar amount will prove to be tricky for the free agent.

Patrick Bamford prioritising MLS move after emotional Leeds exit

The striker, now 32, was at Leeds for seven years before leaving, with Bamford becoming a key part of Marcelo Bielsa’s side as he enjoyed his most fruitful spell at Elland Road under the Argentinian manager.

Whilst it looks like an almost impossible task for Bamford to recapture that old form at this stage, given his injury issues, there are still some exciting possibilities the forward could pursue in the twilight of his career.

According to Alan Nixon on Patreon on 7 September, Bamford is said to be hoping for a move to America to play in the MLS after leaving the West Yorkshire outfit.

It’s shared that the striker has been pursued by a few domestic clubs since his Leeds release, but Bamford’s priority is to get his move to America.

MLS move perfect for Patrick Bamford at this stage of his career

With Bamford struggling to integrate himself into Farke’s starting XI across the previous two seasons, it is clear why the striker would prefer to play his football across the pond.

With the former Leeds man coming to the end of his career, battling for another promotion in the Championship would make little sense, as if the club he did play for were promoted, he would likely be ostracised again, as it is clear Bamford is no longer cut out to be a Premier League footballer.

Moving to America would also be more financially lucrative in comparison to the hefty pay cut he would likely have to take to remain in England.

The prospect of seeing Lionel Messi and Bamford share a pitch is one that Leeds fans would never have envisaged, but it appears this could be the case soon.
