Patrick Bamford snubs Tottenham to stay at Leeds United

Patrick Bamford has snubbed Tottenham and decided to commit his future to Leeds United, according to Mirror journalist David Anderson.

On Thursday afternoon, the Whites confirmed on their Twitter account that Bamford, 27, has signed a new five-year deal to extend his stay at Elland Road until 2026.

Anderson reported via his personal Twitter account that Bamford had in fact snubbed interest from Spurs before putting pen to paper on a new contract with the Yorkshire giants.

Signing of the summer

Admittedly, Leeds have not done a lot this summer and Marcelo Bielsa’s new deal was always a given.

But the reported interest from billionaire-owed Tottenham [Forbes], who are sweating over Harry Kane’s future, was enough for us to have a slight concern about Bamford’s situation at Elland Road.

Fortunately, those concerns are no more with Bamford set to spend the next five years at Elland Road, as long as he doesn’t get his head swayed by anyone else.

Leeds United

Bamford’s deserved this deal.

While he wasn’t at the races against Manchester United on Saturday (who was?), the striker was in tremendous form for us last season in the Premier League and he was so unlucky to not get called up for the England squad at the European Championships.

Leeds’ attack is so dependant upon the ex-Chelsea striker with so much going through him, as well as his goals.

Bamford has spent a lot of his career as a striker who struggled to find the right home and struggled to really knuckle down and impress.

But he’s done that at Leeds. And he’s hopefully going to keep doing that over the coming seasons too.

In other Leeds United news, this club will be dealt a “huge blow” if Leeds manage to sign their star forward after an update by Phil Hay.
