Patrick Bamford one to watch as dream transfer emerges away from Leeds United

Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford is one to “keep an eye on” as Wrexham make him their dream transfer, Ben Jacobs says.

The journalist has revealed that the Welsh outfit could pursue the England international if they are promoted to the Championship.

It’s an “internal dream” of the Red Dragons to bring the 31-year-old to the Racecourse Ground next year if they make it to the second tier of English football.

Speaking to Give Me Sport (27 December), Jacobs said that unless Leeds offer up Bamford on loan, it is unlikely to happen as soon as January.

Wrexham perfect fit for Patrick Bamford after Leeds United struggles

Wrexham have had a fantastic rise since Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds took charge.

The Welsh outfit have secured back-to-back promotions from the National League to League One, and are in contention for promotion again.

Phil Parkinson’s team are currently third in League One and have every chance of making it to the Championship for the 2025/26 campaign.

Bamford has found game time hard to come by at Leeds United this season, making just one start in all competitions under Daniel Farke, and the Peacocks would do well to get rid of his wages.

The German manager has preferred other options in the number nine position, with Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph often leading the line.

After being a loyal servant at Elland Road over the years, it looks like the English striker’s time at the West Yorkshire club is about to come to an end.

While Wrexham aren’t the biggest club in the UK, their commercial relevance will surely appeal to the 31-year-old, but it remains to be seen whether a move will materialise.

In other Leeds news, a £16.5million bid has been tabled for a defender playing in Ligue 1.
